Kundalini Yoga is the practice of raising spiritual energy/awareness through a variety of physical and mental exercises. Kundalini Yoga comes from the Tantric Spiritual tradition of India. The side effects of raising Kundalini energy are healing and energizing. Through chanting, breathing techniques, and meditation, the “Shakti” which is asleep at the base of the spiritual spine is awakened and travels up the spine  into the brain where it unites with Truth, consciousness, and bliss. Kundalini Shakti, the inexhaustible feminine creative force of the universe, may also be assisted to ascend by a healthy diet, reading spiritual texts, painting, writing poetry, anointing with essential oils, comunicating with plants and herbs, and massage/bodywork.

The Raja Yoga School is a 200 hour program that will satisfy all the requirements to become a certified Registered Yoga Teacher with the Yoga Alliance! The foundation of the training is based on the manual for Yogic practice as taught by Patanjali in the Yoga Sutras. Asana (seated meditation), Pranayama (breath work), Yama (moral values), Niyama ( self awareness and purification), Pratyahara (observing the mind), Dharana (concentration), Dhyana (deep meditation), Samadhi (union with the object of meditation). This is the philosophy we will be studying as well as other sacred texts.

As far as Yogic calisthenics you will learn not only the traditional Hatha Yoga asanas but how to choreograph flowing transitions between postures, Vinyasa. You will learn both dynamic/power flows as well as passive stretching. Focus will also be on properly guiding your students with manual adjustments, verbal cues, and class management. This program seeks to provide a well rounded teacher training course that will fully equip it’s graduates to lead the highest quality Yoga classes possible. The foundation of it’s philosophical root is sound in Ashtanga Yoga, the Eight Limbs of Yoga. Also known as Raja Yoga, the Royal Yogic Path.

Yoga Alliance Continuing Education Intensives and Certifications:

Kundalini Shakti Yoga is a Kundalini practice based on the teachings of Kashmir Shaivism, or Trika Yoga, formatted by Nidhan Jot Singh. In a 75 minute Kundalini Shakti Yoga class students are lead through a series of kriyas/warm ups to raise energy and heat the body full of prana. This is followed by a series of Yogic calisthenics to strengthen the upper body and create lower body flexibility. Balancing poses and deep stretches are included. There is deep relaxation at the end of class sometimes with guided meditation or relaxing music. This class combines both dynamic and passive flows to give a balanced sadhana/practice. Tantra meditation on Kundalini Shakti, the inexhaustible feminine creative power of the universe, brings us closer to union with God. Trika philosophy teaches that this world is nothing more then the blissful energy of the all-pervading consciousness of Lord Shiva manifested by Divine Mother Shakti. It's all play.

Adi Shakti Movement is a fusion of Kundalini Yoga and Modern Dance created by Nidhan Jot Singh. It is soulful, inspiring, and empowering. In a 75 minute long Adi Shakti Movement class the primary focus will be on connecting with the earth. There is a 30 minute long warm up and stretch to make sure the body is ready to move. After we practice swirling, rolling, and quadruped calisthenics to build upper body strength and lower body mobility there are standing flows to connect with the space around us. Finally there will be floor dance choreography broken into sections to practice and then put together for a soulful combination. Inspirational/uplifting music is an important component to our classes. After the mind and body are fatigued we rest in meditation. A Mantra (recitation in Sanskrit) is given to students at the end of class and possibly some Pranayama (breathing techniques). The purpose of an Adi Shakti Movement class is to offer a low impact but challenging mind/body/spirit discipline that will connect students with their emotions.

Lazy Monkey Yoga is a Yin / restorative class created by Nidhan Jot Singh. This class is accessible to anybody of any age and fitness level. The class begins seated focussing on posture and energy radiating through the spine (Kundalini Shakti). Using Pranayama, or mindful breathing, we reconnect the body with the earth. When the class is over you will feel like you just had a deep tissue massage. This class is a choreographed class, the series is always taught in the same order, and one Asana smoothly transitions to another effortlessly hence the name “Lazy Monkey”.

Red Hot Kundalini is a more sensuous stylized class. Specifically designed for lovers this heart centered practice is intimate and energizing. This is a partner Yoga class where couples will practice pranayama, asana, and meditation together. The goal of this class/workshop is to open the heart and throat chakras to encourage communication and instill trust. A great Valentine’s day class for sure, but an amazing workshop for anytime of the year. This is a heart centered sadhana.

Aerial Shakti Yoga is a suspension based Yoga class performed in silk hammocks created by Nidhan Jot Singh. Turn your practice upside down and get a new perspective on the world. In a 75 minute long class you will learn Aerial Shakti Yoga signature Vinyasa flows, hanging stretches, the Aerial Shakti Yoga swinging series, and how to use the hammock to deepen your practice. The aerial hammock can be especially useful for getting upside down supporting handstands and everything inverted. On the other hand reclining in the hammock makes for great meditation and deep relaxation.

Kundalini Shakti Reiki is a training program for aspiring Reiki practitioners. By practicing pranayama, meditation, and self-study, a student will feel eligible for their ordination. Classes and workshops for Kundalini Shakti Reiki are meditative sessions that include practicing Reiki on oneself, others, crystals, and plants. The roots of energetic healing are very old, beginning with shamanism all the way to Zen Buddhism. The calming therapeutic effects of heart-centered touch has been documented by health professionals. To practice Reiki effectively, it is best to find a Master and study the proper techniques for practicing safely.
