Philip Deal Pennise
Biographical Sketch
Philip Deal Pennise, native of Virginia Beach, Virginia, is an internationally- renowned classical and contemporary dancer. He is an award winning choreographer and teacher, whose works have been commissioned by dance companies, schools, and professional dancers in the United States and abroad. At the age of 16, Philip was the youngest full-ranking soloist in the history of the Komische Oper of Berlin. At 18 he was the youngest ever and only American to medal at the Concours International de Danse de Paris. At 19, he founded his own dance company in Virginia, which he continues to direct. In 2002, he taught ballet at STEPS on Broadway in New York City in its International Young Dancers Program.

- Performed with various artists at the following venues: Carnegie Hall, The Kennedy Center, the Eastman Theatre, the LA Opera House, the Champs-Elysees Theater, the Komische Oper, the Grand Ole Opry, the Jackie Gleason Theatre, and many more.
Teaching and Choreography
- Teacher, STEPS on Broadway, Summer 2002. Ballet master in the International Young Dancers Program.
- Artistic Director/Choreographer, The Philip Deal Dance Project, Inc., 1999 to present. Produced, directed, choreographed and performed in seven dance concerts.
- Artistic Director, The Philip Deal Dance Center, 1999-2003. Taught all levels of schoolaged children and mentored Dance Center faculty. Choreographed for and coached students who received highest honors and scholarships in national competitions, such as New York City Dance Alliance, as well as state pageants, and who went on to collegiate and professional dance programs.
